Thank you for all of the great memories. Click here to read the whole story.It all started in 1945 as a single room sporting goods store with founder Steve Zangrillo. By 1978 after 13 building expansions and the addition of 56 departments The Darien Sport Shop completed it largest expansion to date. There was an exciting new Ladies department with many boutiques, gifts and luggage by Mark Cross. The store added an active sportswear shop,a travel agency and a landscaped parking lot. In 1998 the store expanded further to its current size and launched the Sport Athletic department serving all team sports and the new Ski Department on the Third Floor. The Mission of the Darien Sport Shop is to make our customers feel “Special” and to give them a good feeling when they are shopping in our store by offering quality merchandise that is “unique and different” and by giving them exceptional service. Mr. Stephen Zangrillo, owner and founder has built the Darien Sport Shop’s excellent reputation by “valuing” each customer’s requests and specials needs, and by earning their trust, that they will receive sincere and honest treatment and full value for every dollar spent and will be satisfied in every respect. The Darien Sport Shop has a responsibility to the people who make it’s growth and success possible.
